The Dance Academy Classes

The Dance Academy offers instruction in many different genres of dance. 

Summer: Dancers age 2.5 - 3 enroll in Creative Movement.

Fall: Dancers ages 3 - 5 enroll in an Intro to Dance class.  

Dancers ages 6 & up have a variety of classes in which to choose:

Jazz, Ballet/Lyrical, Contemporary, Tap, Hip-Hop, Drill Team Prep(grade 8 & up) & Dance technique (level 3 & up)

Those with no experience start with Level 1 classes (if class has multi-levels) and then are evaluated by instructor to check  

class placement is correct.

*Dancers in Level 3 Jazz or Ballet/Lyrical are required to enroll in both Jazz and Ballet/Lyrical or enroll in Dance Technique along with Jazz or Ballet/Lyrical.

Intro to Dance classes are for kids age 3-5.  

*Sometimes we will allow kids who are within a couple of months of being 3 to register on a trial basis, if she/he is potty-trained. 

Intro to Dance classes include a combination of the following: 

Intro ages 3-5 Jazz & Ballet,  Intro ages 3-5 Jazz, Ballet & Tap. or Intro Tumbling/Dance class for 4 & 5 year olds.

Students who start the school year in an Intro to Dance class, stay in that class the full school year.

Students age 6 & older (by September 1) choose from a wide variety of dance styles, including:

 Jazz, Ballet, Ballet/Lyrical, Contemporary (3/4/5 ONLY), Tap, Hip-Hop and Drill Team Prep

Beginner dancers start in Level 1 classes.  After teacher evaluation, class level may be adjusted.  

*We encourage dancers who would like to excel in dance, to enroll in both Ballet & Jazz classes.  

*Dancers in Level 3 Jazz, Ballet/Lyrical, or Contemporary must be enrolled in at least 2 of the previously listed classes or add dance tecnique class.

Those who are interested in auditioning for TDA's competitive dance team, Poise Dance Company, should also add Hip-Hop classes, in addition to any other classes which she or he is interested in competing.
